It doesn't get much easier than this! Washi tape on plastic cups. If you can't pull this one off ... Face it, if I can do it, you can too! This project is an EEEBCDI! For those of you new to my blog it stands for 'easy enough even Bill can do it' (Bill is my non-crafty husband who tests our my diy projects to see how easy they are to make.)

 

These cups are perfect for a picnic wedding or a bride with a black and white theme. Add some black and white straws to pull the look together. Takes the look from ho hum plastic cups to WOW!

 

You can find washi tape in any craft store, just look for your favorite designs and colors. Or shop online.They even sell colored straws in a variety of colors and designs. .

Mason Jars For Parties

Having a picnic wedding or a casual bbq wedding (or party?) Why not use Mason Jars with lids to serve your drinks? These easy to make Mason Jars are both fun and practical. Their lids make them perfect  for your wedding, just add a colorful straw and you’re good to go.

DIY Organic Table Numbers and Placecards

How simple and inexpensive can this DIY project be? Austin Wedding Blog uses an assortment of colors of cherries, go red, or golden, make small 'flags' to put around the stems and use your computer to type names on them in a cursive font before you cut them out and glue them around the stems of the cherries. Do the same to put the 'table number' on each cherry.  Put the number of cherries on the saucer of the people sitting at the table plus one.

 

Choose a pretty saucer for a romantic garden party look. Either pick up saucers from friends and family or hit Goodwill or the your local garage sales. Inexpensive but pretty! (Not to mention edible!)

Rose Petals and Tabletops - Easy DIY Project

Scattering rose petals on a tabletop adds 'something extra' to your tablescape, but here's a great way to do use rose petals that will pull everyone's attention to your decor. Grab your hot glue gun and your silk rose petals and glue them to the table runner or organza overlay! Simple. (Though not necessarily fast).  Be sure to leave ample time for them to dry and don't use too much glue or the material will be glued to whatever is underneath it. You can also make bows for the back of the chairs for the bride and groom that are covered with rose petals. Just don't overdo it. If you think doing this on every table is too much, consider using it for your cake table.

 

Every wedding is memorable for different reasons. Some for the entertainment, some for the great venue, some for the inventive food--but every event should have some memorable very special decorations. If you use this rose petal runner you don't need expensive centerpieces, a simple silver vase with a small floral arrangement or some silver candlesticks will finish off the look. 

 

Don't forget to use rental products when you can instead of purchasing everything. The runner or overlays you will need to purchase because you'll be adding the rose petals to them--which means you get to keep them! (Not sure what you'll do with them later, although one would be great for Valentine's Day celebrations.)  

 

 

 

 

Halloween Wedding DIY Project Idea

DIY Centerpieces - Tape and Tea-lights

Looking for an easy DIY centerpiece or favor? Try these tea-lights. How easy is this? This is easy enough your flower girl could help with it! Which makes it a great project if you want to include everyone in your wedding planning and crafting. So simple!

 

How do  you make it? Just wrap some tea-lights with decorative tapes! These tapes come in a variety of colors and designs so don't be put off if your wedding needs bright colors or the black and silver just doesn't work for you. Have fun!

 

Use them as favors or just put one at each place setting. Or group them in the center of your table. So many choices for this easy craft!

 

I'd categorize this EEEBCDI (Easy enough even Bill could do it) but I didn't even make him try it--it's easier than easy! (Followers of my blog know that Bill is my husband who is very non-crafty. I use him to test out each DIY project. Any project that is marked EEEBCDI is truly something simple to make that he has created with no problems!)

 

 

DIY Metallic Quatrefoil Luminaries

Love this luminary created using a Silhouette machine and some spray paint. To get the look you do need the Silhouette machine. I've seen some on other sites though that used a pre-cut piece of paper as the stencil. So if you don't have a Silhouette already, it might be worth looking for some paper you can use as a stencil instead of investing in the Silhouette. (Yes, I want one too, but... expensive!)

 

You can make these metallic quatrefoil design in a variety of colors and you could even use a different design. The tutorial can be found on this By Stephanie Lynn link.

DIY Flower Girl Petticoat

I try not to re-post Martha ideas because I figure it is the one blog you are already reading. But just in case you didn't dig deeply enough to find this one I wanted to bring it to your attention. I know, petticoats have gone out of fashion but they look perfect for this little girl's flower girl dress.

Lace details on the flower girl's petticoat can also be made by printing on heat-transfer paper and ironing onto the petticoat fabric.

Heart Shaped Wine Lollipops

Sprinkle Bakes created these incredible heart shaped lollipops flavored with wine! Yum! Add them to your bar and have your bartender hand them out with glasses of wine and let your guests enjoy! They are dusted with luster to add a little bit of extra glitz (because after all it IS a special day!)

Giant Paper Flowers?

I saw these and gasped... incredible! What a great way to decorate for your wedding! And you can do it all yourself! You'll be surprised at the very basic everyday things used to make these unique flowers. 

These oversized flowers were created by Josh, the CFO of Ruche, and then created in their warehouse.

Materials

• plastic cups
• cement
• approx. 5” wide stucco corner
• approx. 20-gauge tie wire
• gloves and wire cutters
• tape, glue, and scissors
• tissue paper
• dried moss
• zip ties

Head over to Designsponge for the rest of the directions. I listed the materials just so you could judge if these were something you could make yourself.  As usual, be sure to read all the comments for great solutions to any questions you might have.

Conversation heart soaps? Perfect for wedding favors! Directions and photo from Martha Stewart.  Just so you have an idea what is involved so you know what you'd need to buy to make these the tools and materials are listed below from Martha's site.  Head to Martha's site to get specific directions.

This is NOT a craft I've tried because I don't  have the supplies needed.  Presume Martha has frequent use for metal letter stamps but I can't imagine when else I'd use them. But if you're a DIYer who would use these again (or you feel like investing in the metal letter stamps) the directions don't seem too bad.

DIY Petit Fours

Ever wonder how bakeries make those gorgeous little petit fours? I know, it looks so hard.  But actually if you follow Cake Journal's tutorial (found at this link) it's, dare I say it? A piece of cake!

This tutorial not only gives you a step by step process but if you read the comments you can avoid the pitfalls other bakers have run into.  There are lots of great suggestions to help you make these petit fours successfully.

You can use almost any pound cake recipe as the base for these.  Choose to use an unfilled petit four or fill them with raspberry or apricot jam. 

You can also decorate using an assortment of tools, some you buy at Michael's or your local craft or cake decorating store, others you can make at home using something you already have on hand.

Turn Your Clear Mason Jars Blue

Have you seen those gorgeous blue mason jars but can't find enough of them or just the right color?  Craftberry Bush has a DIY tutorial teaching you just how to make these popular Mason jars in your own home. The link will take you directly to the tutorial, it uses a clean jar, Modge Podge or white Elmer's Glue, a paint brush and some food coloring (and some time to get the colors 'just right.') You can pick up Modge Podge at your local craft store (our favorite is Michael's, but anywhere should have it.)

Warning, paint the outside of the jars if you are planning on adding water for real flowers or the color will run. Also pour water into it carefully even if you paint the outside because the color will run if water hits it.

Faux Etched Candle Holders

Like etched candle holders? If you like the look of etched glass and want an easy DIY candle project this is it. Get the look of etched glass on your candle holders by using a simple rubber stamp, white ink and some glass candle holders. 

For this project choose frosted glass candle holders, they will hold the ink the best and they have a classic yet classy look. Use a single stamp and stamp the design all over the candle holder, or choose your own design.

If you want to stamp your monogram on your candles, head to your local office supply store and order your own custom designed stamp.  Use this stamp to make your own stationary for thank you notes and other projects for both before and after your wedding. A great investment for any DIY'er. 

Place your faux glass etched candles in the middle of your tables as centerpieces or use them as accent pieces on your guest book table or other additional tabletops. 

DIY Chocolate Spoons

Chocolate Spoons! OK, I'm hooked! It doesn't take much but these beauties not only sound good, they look and taste good as well.  The chocolate spoons are the brainchild of the author of Delicious, Delicious, Delicious.  Make them for a wedding or other special party and hear your guests Ooo! and Ah!. 

Don't you love all the toppings?  My favorite topping is the pink topping called Apollo Choco--even if you're not going to use them for these spoons they'd look great on cupcakes.  (You can purchase these pink and chocolate pretties on Amazon.com although they look like they have a slightly different shape.)

Start with some pastel colored plastic spoons.  If you're doing a wedding sweet table choose some of the wedding colors or other coordinating colors.  I warn you, before you pour the melted chocolate in, you'll need to prop up the handle of the spoon so the chocolate doesn't all run out.  Try a few magazines or a book that's just the right height.  (I suggest some you don't care about, because if you're like me you'll end up spilling some chocolate as you work!)

Next choose some quality chocolate and melt it.  It's up to you what quality you go for, look at your budget, but be sure to taste test the chocolate and be sure you're using some that will wow your guests taste buds.

The author of Delicious, Delicious, Delicious suggests these fancy bars, but almost any quality chocolate will do.  Some readers suggested substituting Nutella, a comment that was met by raves! It seems there isn't anyone who doesn't love Nutella, and for those of us in the United States, it's a lot easier to get than Italian Chocolate bars.  Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave over water. 

Fill each spoon with chocolate and decorate with dragees, jelly beans, any small chocolate candy (like M&Ms, Apollo Choco (the pink and brown candies shown), or jelly beans.  Add dragees and pearls and any other toppings that you love.  Just wait about 10 minutes for the chocolate to cool so that the candy doesn't melt as soon as you put it into the chocolate. 

Voila! The perfect addition to your sweet table! Sometimes the simplest floral displays are the ones you can do yourself.  A simple white pitcher, some diasies and greenery--voila!  Don't forget to add the floral fresherner in to water so the flowers last longer.
