DIY Glitter Shoes

Photo courtesy of We Are Not Martha

Want a pair of glitter shoes for your wedding but don't want to spend a fortune on them? Why not make them yourself? Head to Target or Payless and pick up an inexpensive pair of flats (or heels) (just be sure they're comfortable--even flats can hurt!)

Head to the craft store (our local craft store is Michael's but you can pick up what you need in any craft store. You will need some Mod Podge, glitter (in your favorite color), a foam brush for applying the mixture, some masking tape for taping off the sole of the shoe, and some clear glaze spray to use as a fixative after you finish applying the Mod Podge/glitter mixture.

Use masking tape to tape around the edge of the shoe sole. This will keep you from getting glitter on the edge of the sole. Mix about 2 ounces of Mod Podge with glitter. Use lots of glitter. Mix in a plastic bowl that you don't care about (I'm not sure you'd want to eat out of the bowl after you mix up glitter and Mod Podge). Apply using your foam brush. Be sure to cover all the surface. After each coat let it dry fully. I recommend four coats of the glitter/Mod Podge combo. The shoe will look odd with the glitter and Mod Podge on it but once the Mod Podge dries it will be fine. After the fourth layer of Mod Podge/Glitter spray with a few shots of Clear Glaze Spray Fixative so you don't glitter your whole house--voila! Fancy shoes without the fancy price!

Shoes Whose Soles Have Soul!

As you watch this YouTube video of Rosso Solini Secret Soles, you'll find great ways to turn the bottoms of your shoes on your wedding day into part of your decor! Solini Secret Soles come in red, pink, as well as prints like leopard and polka dots. This product looks like fun for any time, not just your wedding.

While I suspect the solid red is a take off on Christian Louboutain's trademark designs, the other designs are just as much fun and give your shoes a touch of whimsy. So if you're looking for an inexpensive way to turn your 'Payless Shoes' or 'KMart's Best' into a top of the line fashion statement, just grab a box of Secret Soles.

Wearing Angry Birds

Source: etsy.com via Lisa on Pinterest

Etsy artists can make you unique shoes to wear for your wedding. Are you and your fiance Angry Birds addicts? Here is a unique pair of shoes (found on Pinterest post by Lisa Lightner), perfect for a bride who wants a pair of kick a** shoes to wear either with her gown or as she leaves her reception.

Sure, you can wear Converse, plain or hand painted, or high heeled Nikes, or a pair of hot color ballet shoes but Angry Birds, well they just 'say something.'  Are you a gutsy bride who wants to really make a statement? If so, these are YOUR SHOES! Angry Bird Shoes, made by Assassin Apparel. Go to Assassin Apparal's Etsy shop to buy these and other great fun shoes.

Not quite 'your thing' for your wedding? Why not pick up a pair for fun summer wear. Great with the primary colors you'll be wearing, especially those jeans in great colors.  I suppose you could wear them with boring 'same old' denim but WHY?

So order yourself your own pair of 'angry bird' shoes and GAME ON!
