Pumpkin Sparkling Votive Centerpieces

Planning a fall wedding? Need a pretty way to show off some fall produce? Try this idea from Twig and Thistle. They almost look like they are covered with sparkling cinnamon! But it's really more mundane than that. Visit Twig and Thistle and find out how to make these for your fall wedding. I know, I know, it's early summer yet, but if you're having an October wedding it's time to get any DIY projects out of the way and finished, ready for the big day!

Loook for other great pumpkin ideas for fall weddings on my blog. Some use white pumpkins (real or those great fakes from your craft store.)

I was at a meeting of bloggers last night and one of the bloggers was telling me ,about their wedding which was a Halloween wedding (so of course, prime pumpkin time!) Her husband to be carved "Mr. and Mrs. ... " into a jack-o-lantern--I wish I had a photo of it, it sounded spectacular! Other more generic jack-o-lanterns decorated some of the rest of the venue.

So as you can see, pumpkins can be anything you want them to at your wedding! So get planning!  Here is a list of links in my blogs for other pumpkin or gourd ideas--one is sure to fit your wedding plans!

Rustic White Featuring Fall/Winter Looks

Pumpkin, inexpensive red and white flowers, some greenery and white pumpkins, white burlap, candles and Dollar Store hurricanes and rosettes you can make yourself make the look featured in this post inexpensive and easy for the DIYer.

The white burlap painted with the initials of the the bride and groom surround a hurricane from the Dollar Store, a mason jar, and another smaller jar. Add a small white pumpkin (one of my favorite fall table ad-ons) and you have an interesting tablescape.

The trick to these white pumpkins? They aren't real.  They actually came home from Big Lots you garden variety foam pumpkin in orange (purchase them post Halloween/Thanksgiving the year before and you will save even more) and painted white. You can purchase real white pumpkins (I've bought them at Whole Foods) but availability and perfection and uniformity of size and form are hard to find.  You're much better off going with the fake foam variety.

This table has a different look sporting a white pumpkin acting as a vase, set in a grapevine wreath with some white flowers, berries, greenery and sticks set on a burlap runner for a change of look for your guests tables.

This close up of a floating candle in a vase (again from the Dollar Store) wrapped in white burlap and decorated with twine, a paper rosette and a small stick show you the details of this design. The combination of a variety of table centerpieces, all with the same theme pull this rustic fall look together, perfect through the end of November.

If you're looking for still more great ideas take the time to browse through Love of Home and Family. The website is filled with creative ideas to inspire brides and party planners alike. The details on how to make the centerpieces shown are included there as well.

Marzipan Acorns, Perfect for Fall Weddings (Another AICDI Project)

Marzipan acorns! This creative idea that captures all the glory of autumn and was created by the DIY mavens on Martha Stewart Weddings web site.  You can make these pretty faux acorns to add to your sweet table to tempt even the most finicky guest.

Tint the marzipan a pale green using food coloring and form into the shape of acorns. Don't forget to add the stems. (After you've made a few, you'll have it down to a science). Top each acorn with some bittersweet chocolate and dip them in chocolate sprinkles.  The bittersweet chocolate crowns help to balance out the sweetness of the faux acorn.

Serve on individual faux leaves (available in most craft or home stores) (I purchased some at Home Goods) or serve on platters at your guests' tables after dinner.  It's always nice to have something sweet to finish your meal at a wedding or wedding shower.

Difficulty rating: AICDI (Any Idiot Can Do It).
