Fast and Easy Wedding Favor

From Pinterest Favecrafts.com

Looking for a fast and easy favor you can make for your wedding? Take some wine corks, add a key ring and a label with the date and location of your wedding. Easy to make!

Plus if you don't think you can drink your way through 200 bottles of wine so you have enough corks, head to your local Whole Foods Market. They recycle corks. Mine will give them to me as long as I ask. Nice way to re-purpose for your wedding!

Salted Caramel Sauce To Die For!

Always with Butter, a blog to die for (at least if you aren't on Weight Watchers!) has this lovely recipe for this soft and luscious salted caramel sauce that is perfect for a wedding favor in the fall. It's soft and gooey and oh so so good. Even if you aren't having a wedding or shower that you need a favor for, you REALLY want to make this sauce. (My husband couldn't keep away from it while I was making it!) It smells and tastes great and looks really good too--what more could you want? Well calorie or fat free would be good but the taste would be ruined so... just enjoy and work it off the next day. Your guests will love it and so will you!

To find the recipe head over to Always With Butter. You'll enjoy this recipe and want to try more of their other recipes as well. Enjoy your salty caramel sauce--and share (I know, it will be hard..but...)

Handmade Pots

Handmade Pots from Fellow Fellow

Handmade Pots! Perfect for shower or wedding favors, these beauties are made from oven bake clay.  They are easy and perfect what we call "warm fuzzies"--for those times when you want to take or give a gift without expectation or the desire to receive one in return.

Make them in any shape you like, but Fellow, Fellow provides you with templates for the ones in her photos (which makes them even easier!) Her site tells you all the products and tools you need to make these 'pretties' and gives you a step by step tutorial making it simple and easy to follow! Ah! A woman after my own heart!

Fellow, Fellow made her handmade pots for succulents but you could add your favorite flower or self-rooting plant to keep the costs down. Your other option? Plant some seeds and watch them grow! Not so easy to do if you're planning to use them for a shower or wedding favor, but if you are making them with your kids (or face it, just for fun yourself) you have the option and leisure of taking the time to watch them sprout.

Fellow, Fellow also made some plant stakes from the same products, similar tutorial, by using cookie cutters and tongue depressors! I will never match her creativity! So head over and see all the details on her site, as well as some more great DIY projects. Fellow, Fellow, I am in awe! You  make the most creative projects and make them so easy! (and we all know easy is my middle name (when we are talking about crafts.)

DIY Art Candles

Make these great looking candles by following the DIY directions at The Gunny Sack.  This site has some kicking DIY projects (for brides-to-be and other crafters).  Start with an inexpensive candle, a computer and printer, tissue paper, glue, an embossing gun and some great clip art (Gunny Sack suggests Graphics Fairy for Vintage Art but you can use anything).  Copy the art, print it onto tissue paper and follow the directions on Gunny Sack's web site on how to apply to your candles.  Let it cool, then wrap for wedding favors.  Great as hostess gifts too!
Candles can be picked up for next to nothing at your local Dollar Store or acquired using great coupons during the year you are planning your wedding.  You could put your monogram and wedding date on these for centerpieces or use taller candles and use them for table numbers (find some great calligraphy numbers online and go to it!).  The only limit is your imagination (and your ability with an embossing gun and some glue sticks!)  Head over to The Gunny Sack and see all their other fun crafts!

Chocolate to Go

These are so simple.  Buy the jars and sterilize them.  Let dry overnight so they are all the way dry.  Fill with high quality cocoa mix and seal.  Add decorations by using a ribbon in your bridal colors or in brown to accent the cocoa, and add a snowflake punch or if you are having a spring/summer wedding try butterflies etc. (see your craft store for assorted punches).  Add a jewel in the center for a little bling.  This is so easy! Done in two days, and one of those days is the one you spend sterilizing the jars.

Wedding Flags

Back of Flags above

Another option, Flags with your monogram
Brides everywhere will get wonderful inspiration from Michele at Offbeat Bride who made these great flags for her wedding party to hand out to show their enthusiasm as the bride and groom were walking out of the church.  Michele opted to make them from construction paper, and used her sewing machine to make a seamed placket to put a wooden dowel into.  She said "I put a few drops of glue on the sticks, mainly because she didn't want the flags sliding down the dowels. Then folded the paper around, and did the stitching with a zipper foot- they ended up being fairly tight."  What a great way to let your guests show their enthusiasm for your new marriage!  Shades of Monty Python!  "And there was much rejoicing!"

DIY Chocolate Cake Balls

Cake Balls (decorate in colors to match your theme)

Ingredients (Makes 36)

1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 (16 ounce) container prepared chocolate frosting
1 (3 ounce) bar chocolate flavored confectioners coating

Directions

Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using any of the recommended pan sizes. When cake is done, crumble while warm into a large bowl, and stir in the frosting until well blended. Melt chocolate coating in a glass bowl in the microwave, or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth. Use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate cake mixture. Dip the balls in chocolate using a toothpick or fork to hold them. Place on waxed paper to set.

These are easy to make, don't need a lot of ingredients, and the only time consuming part is decorating them.

This web site sells the chocolate confectioner's coating that you need for this recipe, your local craft store probably carries it as well. You can buy higher quality chocolate coating but it's more difficult to work with. http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/candies/chocolate.htm .  Your local craft store or Sugarcraft will also sell the candy cups to place your chocolate balls in for display purposes.  They come in a variety of colors.

Brown Bagging It

Quick and easy DIY favors, table numbers OR seating cards are all way to use this brown bag of strawberries.  Brown bags from your favorite craft store (I picked these up in Michael's) with a sticker with your monogram for favors, or add the table number or the guests' names for seating cards make this one diverse DIY project!

Having a Holiday Wedding? Try Making this Cranberry Flavored Liqueur

You can easily make this cranberry liqueur for your guests. Either serve it as a beverage or give it as a favor.  It's beautiful red coloring makes it perfect for the Christmas season or Valentine's Day weddings. You'll need a large stock pot and a spatula.
large stock pot, a food processor or blender, strainer and/or cheesecloth, a funnel, and a very large clean bottle or steeping jar with lid, and for each batch of this recipe 4-6 small decorative bottles with lids to hold the finished product.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 whole bag fresh cranberries cleaned
4 cups reasonable vodka

Instructions

1. Pour water and sugar in large stock pot over medium heat. Stir constantly until sugar dissolves and water looks clear. Let cool.

2. Place cranberries in food processor and pulse until cranberries are finely chopped. Add to the cooled sugar water and then add vodka. Stir.

3. Pour into large steeping jar or bottle. Seal and store in cool dark place. Steep for 2 to 3 weeks, shaking every other day.

4. Pour mix through strainer to separate solids. Using cheesecloth will remove more impurities.

5. Use funnel to pour into small individual bottles, tie ribbon around the fun red liqueur and voila! Makes 4-8 gifts depending on bottle sizes. Cost is about $5 to $10 dollars per gift depending on vodka and individual bottle cost.

Other fruit options include but are not limited to: vanilla bean, simply slice in half and place in storing. I recommend steeping this a month. Orange or lemon peel (avoid rind). The bottles store for one year.
