Mason Jar Luminaries

This simple DIY project lets you make mason jar luminaries from three items. A mason jar, tissue paper, and a battery powered votive candle.

Simply line the mason jars with your favorite tissue paper to coordinate with your wedding colors and add the votive. Use them to line the church aisle or for outdoor weddings to mark the aisle or along the side of your aisle runner.

These luminaries are perfect for outdoor weddings, especially weddings on the beach or in a park. It gives a burst of color and light and adds some design to it. These are an EEEBCDI project. For new readers that means 'easy enough even Bill can do it' which means I had my husband who is very un-crafty try it, and he had no problem pulling it all together. So for the un-crafty bride this is a perfect project.

 

 

DIY Wedding Shower Project

Looking for a DIY wedding shower project? Are you planning a wedding shower but want to add some bling? Why not try this trick on your plastic silverware? Add some rhinestone stickers to each fork, knife, or spoon. Display it in a cute holder with some color coordinating ribbon or tulle and you are good to go! A fun way to bling up a shower! This is also a great way to bling up a little girl's birthday party.

DIY Peony Centerpieces

If you love peonies this DIY centerpiece will capture your heart. It's perfect for weddings or wedding showers, or just a pretty luncheon or dinner party. 

 

To make these you will need taper candlesticks, some floral foam (to keep the flowers hydrated), and a floral knife and floral clippers (oh and some water to soak the foam) and your peonies (you can use any flower that opens to approximately the same size as a peony.)

This is an easy to make centerpiece that you can pull together ahead of time (cut the foam, buy the flowers) and just quickly add the water and flowers on the day of your wedding or even the day before. Easy Do It Yourself Centerpieces

Making your own centerpieces can be as easy as floating flowers and candles in water. Secure your favorite flowers, roses, orchids, tulips. You don't have to use real flowers, silk will do, which makes your timing much easier.

 

You can make these ahead of time with less worry of dying flowers. Anchor the flowers by either gluing to the bottom of your vase or by using floral stones. Add a floating candle to the top of your design and voila! The perfect centerpiece is ready to be put on the table, just waiting for the reception to begin and candles to be lit.

Be sure your vase is tempered glass so that it won't shatter when the candle has been lit for awhile. I once arrived at a wedding just in time to see all the centerpieces shatter one after the other. That's a mess you just don't need on  your wedding day. These easy centerpieces can be clustered in a group or used as a single piece. Add some votive candles on a mirror to add some depth.

Bleach Bride Tee Shirts

I can't take credit for this one but it was so good I had to share it with you. These bleach bride tees are perfect and so simple! A little Clorox bleach pen on a pretty tank and you're good to go! Great for your bachelorette party or as a way to ask someone to be in your wedding.

DIY Glitter Shoes

Want a pair of glitter shoes for your wedding but don't want to spend a fortune on them? Why not make them yourself? Head to Target or Payless and pick up an inexpensive pair of flats (or heels) (just be sure they're comfortable--even flats can hurt!)

 

Head to the craft store (our local craft store is Michael's but you can pick up what you need in any craft store. You will need some Mod Podge, glitter (in your favorite color), a foam brush for applying the mixture, some masking tape for taping off the sole of the shoe, and some clear glaze spray to use as a fixative after you finish applying the Mod Podge/glitter mixture.

 

Use masking tape to tape around the edge of the shoe sole. This will keep you from getting glitter on the edge of the sole. Mix about 2 ounces of Mod Podge with glitter. Use lots of glitter. Mix in a plastic bowl that you don't care about (I'm not sure you'd want to eat out of the bowl after you mix up glitter and Mod Podge). Apply using your foam brush. Be sure to cover all the surface. After each coat let it dry fully. I recommend four coats of the glitter/Mod Podge combo. The shoe will look odd with the glitter and Mod Podge on it but once the Mod Podge dries it will be fine. After the fourth layer of Mod Podge/Glitter spray with a few shots of Clear Glaze Spray Fixative so you don't glitter your whole house--voila! Fancy shoes without the fancy price!

Do It Yourself Spring Centerpiece

I love this DIY spring centerpiece! Do it yourself flowers can be tricky but not with this easy to make centerpiece. Don't you love the huge bouquet of bright yellow daffodils juxtaposed against the wooden vase? Perfect for a spring wedding.

 

Just drill a hole big enough for a glass to hold the water and the stems of the flowers you want to use as a centerpiece and voila! Add the flowers and it's done. Just put it on the tabletops and your work is done! This is a great DIY project to get your fiance involved in (we all know how much guys love power tools!) Not to say you can't do it all on your own but hey, it's more fun together, right? So give it a try--Martha makes it all look so easy!

Fast and Easy Wedding Favor

Looking for a fast and easy favor you can make for your wedding? Take some wine corks, add a key ring and a label with the date and location of your wedding. Easy to make!

 

Plus if you don't think you can drink your way through 200 bottles of wine so you have enough corks, head to your local Whole Foods Market. They recycle corks. Mine will give them to me as long as I ask. Nice way to re-purpose for your wedding!

Easy DIY Napkin Rings

It's not everyday you find a DIY project that is super easy to make and will add a unique touch to your wedding day. These napkin rings act as place cards as well as napkin rings--a double whammy. Made by the crafty group at Heart of Light, these are made with heavy stock paper and zots (if you've never used zots you will be blown away at how easy them make crafting!) Plus download this. This is guaranteed to be an EEEBCDI(Easy enough even Bill can do it) project so your fiance can give you some help with these--no excuses about not being crafty! If you don't read my blog regularly, these are projects that my  husband (the least crafty man in the world) has tested for me to see how easy they REALLY are to make. If he can do it, anyone can, your man included.

 

So take a night and knock out some of these beauties to decorate your tables for your wedding reception. Or if  you are newly married why not use them for your first dinner party as newlyweds? Have fun!

 

Black and White Washi Tape Tricks

It doesn't get much easier than this! Washi tape on plastic cups. If you can't pull this one off ... Face it, if I can do it, you can too! This project is an EEEBCDI! For those of you new to my blog it stands for 'easy enough even Bill can do it' (Bill is my non-crafty husband who tests our my diy projects to see how easy they are to make.)

 

These cups are perfect for a picnic wedding or a bride with a black and white theme. Add some black and white straws to pull the look together. Takes the look from ho hum plastic cups to WOW!

 

You can find washi tape in any craft store, just look for your favorite designs and colors. Or shop online.They even sell colored straws in a variety of colors and designs. .

DIY Floating Canopy For Your Wedding

Looking for a unique way to mark your wedding location in your local park or back yard? Why not try this canopy that floats courtesy of multiple balloons. How do you do it? The balloons are attached to the grounds using fishing line, invisible but strong. How cool is this? I think this is one of my favorite do it yourself outdoor wedding ideas.

 

Arrange your ceremony under one end, your reception at the other, or use one half the canopy for your ceremony and chairs for your guests to relax on, and the other half for the reception. No matter how you decide to arrange the details the overall look is striking.

I mean he's great at some things, fixing things, putting things together, but not tiny little projects like this. So I test out the ease of the tutorial by having him try them out. If it's rated EEEBCDI, your groom should have no problem either, which makes these projects all the more fun. For the non-crafty out there who need a simple project that looks great this is IT! Simple, fast, and ends up looking great. What more could you ask?

 

**EEEBCDI stands for 'easy enough even Bill can do it.' I test how hard a craft is out on my 'non-crafty' spouse. He really rocked this one! Not to mention for some reason men love hot glue guns! Handmade Pots

Handmade Pots! Perfect for shower or wedding favors, these beauties are made from oven bake clay.  They are easy and perfect what we call "warm fuzzies"--for those times when you want to take or give a gift without expectation or the desire to receive one in return.

Make them in any shape you like, but Fellow, Fellow provides you with templates for the ones in her photos (which makes them even easier!) Her site tells you all the products and tools you need to make these 'pretties' and gives you a step by step tutorial making it simple and easy to follow! Ah! A woman after my own heart!

Fellow, Fellow made her handmade pots for succulents but you could add your favorite flower or self-rooting plant to keep the costs down. Your other option? Plant some seeds and watch them grow! Not so easy to do if you're planning to use them for a shower or wedding favor, but if you are making them with your kids (or face it, just for fun yourself) you have the option and leisure of taking the time to watch them sprout.

Fellow, Fellow also made some plant stakes from the same products, similar tutorial, by using cookie cutters and tongue depressors! I will never match her creativity!
